Our Faith & History

A heritage of soulful service.

Second Mount Calvary has stood as a beacon of hope in New Orleans for over a century — rooted in Scripture, shaped by struggle, and sustained by grace.

Second Mount Calvary exterior

Our Story

Built on prayer.
Sustained by community.

What began as a small fellowship gathered in a New Orleans living room has grown into a multi-generational congregation — bound by song, by Scripture, and by the shared inheritance of Black Baptist tradition.

We are stewards of a story longer than ourselves. Every Sunday, every revival, every act of service is another chapter.

What We Believe

Our Confession of Faith

The Word

We hold the Bible as the inspired, infallible Word of God — our guide for faith and life.

The Trinity

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ — a gift freely given to all who believe.

The Church

The Church is the body of Christ — called to worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.

A Century of Service

Our Timeline
